Bernie Gravett has acted as a consultant to the author of Stolen Lives a new book by Louise Hulland.
Louise Hulland is a Sony Award winning journalist, TV & radio presenter and documentary maker. Her TV credits include BBC One’s The One Show, Watchdog, Watchdog Daily, and Inside Out, ITV London News and ITN. She can also be heard on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and as a frequent stand-in presenter on BBC Local Radio. She has produced countless documentaries for radio and TV and has been investigating trafficking and slavery since 2010.
In this hard-hitting book, Louise Hulland exposes the scale of the slavery on the streets of Britain today. In examining the key aspects of trafficking and modern slavery, she investigates why and how it happens, the impact of the crime on survivors, how police are tackling it, and what is being done to help those enslaved in 21st century Britain put their lives back together.
Through interviews with police, NGOs, charities, lawyers and, most importantly, survivors, Hulland seeks to understand the horrors of this hidden world. She shines a spotlight on the heartening work being done to try and bring modern slavery to an end, and examines the Government’s response to this £100 billon crime.
The book will be available at main booksellers such as waterstones and Amazon from September.
