Organ transplantation is an accepted medical practice where the organs of a deceased or in certain cases, a living person, are legally transplanted to another in life saving or life changing surgery.
It is a fact that the demand for transplanted organs outstrips the supply.
This has led to the situation where, often in developing countries, the poor are exploited and undergo the removal of an organ for a relatively small sum of money.
There have been reports of organ harvesting happening with state sanction in some countries, where prisoners have organs removed, or in conflict zones where terrorist organisations such as ISIS benefit from harvesting the organs of prisoners and slaves.
