Final Moldovan training a huge success

The team have now finished delivering their first round of training to help law enforcement and civil society identify potential victims of human trafficking / modern slavery.  Our final days training saw over 80 members of the Moldovan Border Force and NGO staff trained in various key aspects relating to human trafficking – not least in key trafficking indicators.

Throughout our two weeks delivering training, the highlight of every day has been seeing the participants get fully immersed in an interactive team exercise where they identify trafficking indicators and evidential opportunities – that’s where the magic happens!

It’s been an incredible 3 weeks – and at times quite emotional and humbling.  The way the Moldovan people have stepped up to support temporarily displaced Ukrainian’s, mostly women and children, has been nothing less than inspirational.  Yet, the challenges for them to identify potential human trafficking is very real – in our first week on the ground the CTN team personally identified two separate incidents of potential human trafficking.

We are so proud that in just a matter of weeks we have delivered essential training to over 300 staff from law enforcement and civil society – including to those working at the borders.  This has included staff from OSCE, UNHCR, IOM and many, many other organisations.

However, much more support and training is still needed, so hopefully we’ll be back in Moldova in the very near future.
