SPC expert evidence crucial in 16 year old being acquitted of murder
We are really proud that following Colin Carswell and Bernie Gravett being appointed independent modern slavery experts in a case of murder, that their evidence was instrumental in the acquittal of ‘RS’ – the 16 year old accused.
RS had historically been recognised as a victim of modern slavery through County Lines drug dealing. Following an in-depth review of this case, our experts presented compelling evidence that the child had been re-trafficked and was again being exploited in drug dealing. The defence established that the deceased and a prosecution witness had attempted to ‘set up’ the RS, to stab him and his co-defendant.
Following two days of legal arguments, the Crown offered no evidence on charges of murder and manslaughter against RS.
